Scaffolder

A scaffolder erects and dismantles the temporary structures that give workers safe access to buildings and sites at height. They assemble tubes, frames, boards, and fittings into stable platforms, follow strict engineering and safety standards, adapt scaffolds to complex structures, and take them down when work is done.

The work is physical and safety-critical, since the lives of everyone using the scaffold depend on it being built correctly. Scaffolders work for scaffolding and construction firms, mostly outdoors and at height.

The job suits strong, careful, surefooted people who are comfortable working up high and take seriously the responsibility of building the platforms others rely on.
