Bricklayer / mason

A bricklayer or mason builds and repairs structures from brick, block, and stone — walls, foundations, chimneys, fireplaces, and architectural features. They lay units in mortar, level and align each course, cut materials to fit, and create both structural and decorative masonry that's meant to last for generations.

The work is physical and skilled, combining strength with the precision and eye needed for straight, even, attractive work. Masons work for construction firms and masonry contractors, mostly outdoors.
