QA / test engineer

A QA or test engineer ensures software works correctly before it reaches users. They design test plans, write and run tests (manual and automated), find and document bugs, verify fixes, and work with developers to maintain quality standards — catching problems before customers do.

The role blends technical skill with a careful, skeptical mindset focused on what could go wrong, increasingly involving test automation and tooling. QA engineers work across virtually every software company.
