Analytics engineer

An analytics engineer transforms raw data into clean, reliable, well-modeled datasets that analysts and the business can trust. They build and maintain data transformation pipelines (often with tools like dbt), define metrics and data models, document and test data, and bridge the gap between data engineering's raw pipelines and analysts' reporting needs.

The role is a relatively new hybrid, applying software-engineering practices — version control, testing, modularity — to analytics. Analytics engineers work at data-driven companies.
