A pharmacologist studies how drugs interact with living systems — how a compound is absorbed, what it does to the body, what dose works, and what it harms. They work in pharmaceutical companies, universities, and regulatory agencies, usually with a research doctorate. The role suits rigorous, careful scientists who can sustain long development programmes where most compounds fail.
