Emergency dispatchers answer calls to the emergency number (911, 999, 112, 000, and equivalents around the world) and coordinate the response of police, fire, and medical services. The work involves assessing emergencies in seconds from often panicked callers, prioritising, dispatching the right help, giving life-saving instructions over the phone, and managing multiple crises at once.
