Surgeon (general)

A general surgeon performs operations across a broad range of conditions — from appendectomies and hernia repairs to trauma and abdominal surgery — combining diagnosis, operative skill, and post-operative care. The work demands precise manual dexterity, real-time tactile judgement inside the body, and decisions made under pressure when the unexpected arises.

Surgeons train for many years and carry very high stakes, working in operating theatres with a wider team. Robotic systems assist with precision, but they do not operate autonomously — the surgeon's hands and intraoperative judgement remain essential.
