Sports coach (youth)
Description
A youth sports coach teaches children and teens the skills, rules, and spirit of a sport while supporting their athletic and personal development. They run practices and drills, teach technique and strategy, coach games, build teamwork and sportsmanship, motivate and encourage young athletes, and create a positive, safe environment for kids to grow through sport.
The work blends athletic knowledge with mentoring and working with young people, often part-time or seasonal. Youth coaches work for schools, clubs, leagues, and community programs.
The job suits energetic, patient, encouraging people who love their sport and enjoy working with kids, and who want to develop not just athletes but confident, resilient young people through the lessons sport teaches.
