Colorist

A colorist sets the final look of film and video in post-production, grading colour, contrast, and tone to create mood, ensure continuity, and match a project's visual intent. The work combines technical mastery of grading tools and colour science with a strong creative eye, usually in a calibrated grading suite.

Colorists collaborate with directors and DPs to develop and apply a look across a project. AI grading tools can automate matching and basic correction, leaving creative look development and client-directed aesthetic decisions as the human value.
