Cinematographer / DP

A cinematographer (director of photography) shapes the visual language of film and video — framing, lighting, camera movement, and lens choices — to realise a director's vision on screen. The role leads the camera and lighting departments on set, making fast technical and creative decisions under production pressure.

The work is hands-on, collaborative, and physically present, balancing artistry with the logistics of crew, equipment, and schedule. Generative video tools are emerging, but a DP's real-time leadership and embodied judgement on set are not easily replaced.
