Voice actor
Description
A voice actor performs with the voice alone — for animation, video games, audiobooks, commercials, dubbing, and narration — creating characters and delivering scripts through vocal range, timing, and emotional colour. Sessions are usually recorded in a booth, often acting to direction without scene partners or visual context.
The work is largely freelance and audition-driven, demanding versatility across styles and the stamina to sustain a performance take after take. Synthetic voice tools now handle a growing share of routine narration, pushing the human value toward nuanced, character-driven, and emotionally specific work.
