Circus performer

View resources

Description

A circus performer presents acrobatic, aerial, balance, or skill-based acts — trapeze, juggling, contortion, tumbling — before live audiences. The work depends on extreme physical conditioning and finely honed technique, often with real physical risk, rehearsed exhaustively before being performed in real time.

Performers train continuously to maintain and extend their skills, frequently touring with companies or working events and festivals. Careers blend artistry and athleticism, are physically demanding, and usually combine performing with coaching or developing new acts.
