Painter

A painter creates original visual artwork by applying paint — oil, acrylic, watercolour, or mixed media — to canvas, panel, paper, or walls. The work spans developing a personal style, composing images, mixing colour, and building a coherent body of work through sustained studio practice.

Most painters work alone and self-direct their output, splitting their time between making art and the business around it: approaching galleries, applying for shows and grants, handling commissions, and promoting the work. Income is typically irregular and earned over years of refining a recognisable voice and reputation.
