Installation artist

An installation artist creates immersive, often site-specific works that reshape how a space is experienced, combining sculpture, light, sound, video, found objects, and architecture. Each project starts by responding to a particular location and concept, then moves through design, fabrication, transport, and on-site assembly, frequently adapting the work to the room as it goes up.

The role mixes solitary conceptual development with hands-on building and coordination — working alongside galleries, museums, fabricators, and technicians while managing budgets, materials, and timelines. Because pieces are usually temporary and unrepeatable, much of the craft lies in realising an idea physically within a real space.
