Set designer (film/theatre)

A set designer (production or scenic designer) creates the physical environments of film, television, and theatre, translating a script and the director's vision into sets that are built, dressed, and then shot or staged. The work spans research, drawings and models, material selection, and overseeing construction and on-set adjustments.

The role is collaborative and production-bound, working with directors, art departments, and construction crews under real deadlines and budgets. Much of the craft is physical and logistical — solving how an imagined space gets built and works in front of a camera or audience.
